Celebrating 20 Years of Crafting Outdoor Spaces in West Michigan

The RRR Lawn & Landscape Story

In 2006, RRR Lawn & Landscape was built on two driving forces: the pursuit of business ownership and a genuine love for the green industry.

That passion turned into a company.
That company turned into a reputation.

As RRR Lawn & Landscape celebrates 20 years in business, this milestone represents more than longevity. It reflects two decades of commitment to customer service, integrity, craftsmanship, and relationships built project by project across West Michigan.

This is the story of how RRR grew — intentionally, steadily, and always with quality at the center.

Where It All Began:
Passion Meets Purpose

From the beginning, the motivation was clear: build something of your own and do work that feels meaningful.

There is something uniquely gratifying about creating outdoor spaces. You can step back at the end of a project and physically see what you built. You watch clients walk onto a finished patio, through a redesigned landscape, or around a refreshed planting bed and experience it immediately.
That tangible transformation is what drew Ryan into the industry — and what has kept him passionate for 20 years.

But the early days looked different.

RRR started in the pre-digital era. There were no online reviews driving first impressions. No Instagram portfolios. No 3D visualizations. Growth depended on showing up, doing excellent work, and earning trust one project at a time.

Through every change in technology and market conditions, three non-negotiable values have remained constant:

Those values shaped the foundation of the company — and they continue to guide every project today.

From Paper Sketches to Precision Design: Embracing Technology

In the early years, designs were created with hand sketches and conversations. Clients relied heavily on imagination and trust.

Today, the process is dramatically more advanced.

Digital rendering and professional design software now allow clients to see their outdoor space before installation begins. Layouts, material selections, plant groupings, and structural elements can be visualized clearly and adjusted efficiently.

Instead of trying to imagine the final result, homeowners can experience it.

Modern design programs allow RRR to:

Technology has elevated the client experience and strengthened execution.

On the installation side, advancements in equipment, measurement tools, and construction techniques have refined the way projects are built. Improved base preparation standards, compaction methods, and structural practices mean outdoor living spaces are not only beautiful, but built to last in Michigan’s four-season climate.

Technology supports the work.
It does not replace craftsmanship.

RRR continues to invest in the tools that allow the team to design smarter, plan more precisely, and execute with excellence — while remaining hands-on from start to finish.

Growing With Purpose.
Not Pressure

Growth can be dangerous in the design/build industry. Move too fast and quality suffers. Expand without the right people and reputation erodes.

RRR chose a disciplined path.
Growth only happened when the right team was in place.
Business is a people thing.

Having the right team — individuals who care about craftsmanship, communication, and detail — allowed RRR to expand without compromising standards.

There were also moments when growth opportunities were intentionally declined. If quality and integrity could not be maintained during a growth phase, the answer was no.

That discipline is part of what allowed RRR to reach 20 years without losing its identity.

The service mix evolved strategically as well.

Originally, RRR offered year-round services including lawn care, maintenance, landscape, and snow removal. Eventually, the company made the intentional decision to sell its Lawn Care and Snow Removal divisions.

That move created clarity.

By focusing solely on Landscape Design/Build, Maintenance, and Seasonal Color, RRR was able to hone in on its creative strengths and deepen its expertise.

The addition of the Seasonal Color Division brought a new layer of artistry to client properties — allowing landscapes to feel dynamic and vibrant year-round.

Narrowing focus strengthened the brand.

A Design Philosophy Rooted in Listening

At RRR Lawn & Landscape, every project begins the same way: listening.

Before pencil touches paper or software generates a rendering, the first priority is understanding the client’s wants, needs, and desires.

Only after truly understanding those answers does design begin.

What makes an RRR project feel different once completed is not just the finished product — it is the experience throughout the process.

Ryan and Nikki remain hands-on from the initial consultation to the final walkthrough.

Clients work directly with leadership throughout the entire project lifecycle, creating a personalized, consistent experience.

The result is work completed with extreme quality and attention to detail — and clients who feel confident every step of the way.

Built on Trust, Communication, and Responsiveness

If you ask clients what stands out most, one comment surfaces repeatedly:

“I can’t believe how quickly you followed up with me.”

Responsiveness matters.

In an industry where communication often lags, RRR prioritizes timely follow-up, clear expectations, and proactive updates.

Clients continue to refer RRR because of three consistent elements:

And how does RRR define a successful client relationship?

A happy client is a successful client.

That clarity keeps the focus exactly where it belongs.

Serving West Michigan With Experience

Designing and building landscapes in Michigan requires foresight. Four seasons demand durability, thoughtful material selection, and an understanding of how environments change throughout the year.

Over the past 20 years, RRR has developed deep expertise in creating outdoor spaces that endure.

Every design considers longevity and climate impact. That regional understanding strengthens every project.

Beyond the technical aspects, there is something deeply rewarding about watching neighborhoods evolve — seeing families return years later to expand or enhance their space.

Being part of those stories is what makes the work meaningful.

The Next Chapter:
Intentional Expansion

Looking ahead, the vision is clear.

RRR would like to double in size over the next five to ten years — slowly, carefully, and intentionally — ensuring quality is never compromised.

There is excitement around expanding into Artificial Turf and increasing Commercial work, both areas that align with the company’s strengths.

But one thing will never change:

That foundation will guide the next 20 years.

Thank You

Twenty years in business does
not happen alone.

It requires clients who trust.
Team members who care.
A community that supports local craftsmanship.

Every project, every referral, and every opportunity has contributed to this milestone.

RRR Lawn & Landscape remains grateful for the privilege of creating outdoor spaces that families enjoy for years to come.
